Question Types
Each question can be assigned to a question type or category, such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry. This list of question types is maintained in the Question Types worksheet.
You can create your own list of question types and you can even group items. For instance, you may want to group algebra, parabolas, functions, exponents,... under the heading 'ALGEBRA' as shown below.
Note: The two-tier Question Type is setup explained below is optional. If you want to stick with a simple one-tier simply enter a description for each question type and leave the columns labeled 'Parent Tag', 'Parent?', and 'Child Tag' blank.
And if you don't care about Question Types that's fine, too. Just skip this entire section.
Later in the Student Report we will show you how the student did for each item as well as for the group total.
You can create up to 100 question types.
DO NOT change the ID numbers in the first column.
For the Question Type list we use the term 'parent' to identify the group heading. You will need to assign a tag for a parent. In the example above the tag is 'A' (for Algebra - ingenious, I know). You will also need to identify the group heading as 'Parent' in the column labeled 'Parent?'.
The 'child' question types that belong to this 'parent' are then listed underneath the parent and identified as 'Child' in the 'Parent?' column. Its association with the parent is established by entering the Parent Tag in the the column labeled 'Child Tag'. In the example above that tag is 'A'.
Most customers create one Question Type list which is then used for all of their tests. Using the 'Export List' and 'Import List' feature makes it easy to consistently reuse a Question Type list once it has been set up.
